DESCRIPTION:
As soon as the news broke of the catastrophic effects of the storm and subsequent flood that took place on 7 August 1996, the local, regional and national authorities organised an emergency plan to restore communications and basic services to the affected area, independently of the rescue operations that had been set in place. This involved channelling the stormwater from the alluvial fan and guaranteeing minimum conditions of safety for the road and surrounding areas. The state-owned company TRAGSA (with the collaboration of Construcciones y Contratas Bernardo, S.A) gave its support from the very start by providing the necessary material and human means.
